Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United were completely outplayed by Guardiola’s Manchester City in the first half of the Manchester derby at Old Trafford. City’s players were toying with United as they mounted attack after attack and the 2-1 scoreline was flattering to United at halftime. Although, Mourinho made some changes after which United were far better in the second half, it is clear that there is a marked difference between the quality of players City has compared to the red devils.

Mourinho needs to get in new players in January if they wish to challenge City for the title.

Raphael Varane

It was clear that although Daley Blind and Eric Bailly have done a decent job so far, when it comes to high quality opposition they are simply of no match. Varane has worked under Mourinho already and should be an achievable target for United.

Kyle Walker

Although Valencia was impressive for United going forward, doubts still remains about his defensive positioning. United will do well to get a natural right back as Darmian seems to have regressed considerably.

Isco

Although United have bought Paul Pogba for their midfield, they still miss a creative spark in the center of midfield. Isco who has been long rumoured to leave Real Madrid might just be the man to ignite United’s title challenge.

Antoine Griezmann

Who wouldn’t want this Frenchman at their club. Although, it is highly unlikely that, Atletico will sell him in January, United should do whatever it takes to sign him.
