Manchester United face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final in what is likely to be Van Gaal’s last match in charge. Win or lose, Van Gaal is expected to be sacked and is set to be replaced by Jose Mourinho. A latest report from AS says that Mourinho and Manchester United have also signed a pre-contract agreement. Among all the speculation, Van Gaal still believes that he will be the manager even next year.
For Manchester United fans, winning the FA Cup will bring them small joy after three years of boring football and bad results. Losing against Crystal Palace is simply out of the question for the already under pressure manager. Van Gaal has dropped Memphis Depay from the 18 man squad for the final. This will be a big blow for the already low on confidence youngster. Depay wouldn’t have been expecting to start, but not being selected for the squad will hit his confidence a great. Another notable absentee is Cameron Borthwick-Jackson who is set to be replaced by Marcos Rojo. Rojo has been poor for United and he will be up for a tough game with Bolasie operating on the right for Crystal Palace.
