Real Madrid need to score a minimum of 3 goals to advance to the Champions League semifinals in normal time. A 2-0 victory will take it to extra time and then penalties which Real would like to avoid especially against German opponents. This game is easily Zidane’s most important  in his short managerial career so far. Unable to qualify for semis will put a serious doubt on Zidane’s future at Real Madrid.

James Rodriguez or Isco should be called upon instead of Casemiro to provide the extra attacking impetus from the midfield. Wolfsburg will sit back and defend, so Real can sacrifice a defensive midfielder for an offensive one.

It is also very important that Real don’t let Wolfsburg score the away goal as Real themselves scored none in Germany. They might vulnerable on the counter especially if Real don’t find the first goal early in the match. It is key that Real score early and get the crowd on their side.
