Hayley Mcqueen who works for Sky Sports News but also presents for MUTV on several occasions has revealed that the club have no intention of removing Van Gaal from his post in the summer. Even though several news outlets have reported that Mourinho has already signed a contract with United, the reporter believes that Van Gaal will see out his three year contract.
In an exclusive interview to Footbal FanCast, Mcqueen said,
“If some of the papers are to be believed this deal with Jose Mourinho is already done and dusted.”
“I worked at the end of the season awards actually and having good relationships with people at the club, my understanding is that they’re all set for van Gaal to take charge of the team next season. He’s even had a massive hand in the pre-season.
“Ed Woodward and the guys sat down and mapped out the whole pre-season plan – where they would train, where they would travel to – and Louis van Gaal has come in and actually changed a lot of what they’re doing and planning. So obviously they have him in mind.
“He has a very good relationship with Ed Woodward and I think that’s why he’s been in the job as long as he has. I think he is fairly confident himself of winning the FA Cup and of his own future.”
Van Gaal has had an underwhelming two years so far at Manchester United but United have played well recently and they have a chance of winning their first trophy under the Dutchman. Even though a FA Cup win and a fourth place finish wouldn’t be termed a success, many supporters will be happy if their team manages to achieve that. With City and Arsenal having to play each other, United have a great opportunity to come within the top 4 and qualify for the Champions League.
