Man United player ratings vs Tottenham- This player deserves a ZERO!

2 minutes

Manchester United put in yet another lifeless display which saw them lose to Tottenham 3-0 at White Hart Lane. The first half ended at 0-0 after a cagey 45 minutes slightly dominated by Spurs. In the second half, United completely fell apart after Fosu-Mensah was substituted off and conceded 3 goals in 5 minutes.

Manchester United Youth Rankings 2016 #1- Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Player Ratings

David De Gea- 6/10

Couldn’t do much about the goals, a solid performance except for a cross drop in the first half.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah – 7.5/10

Fosu-Mensah was terrific with his energy, tackling and his physical presence. Positional awareness will slowly come with maturity, sky is the limit.

Chris Smalling – 7/10

Another solid performance by the English defender but needs to be a leader of this defence and should take up more responsiblity.

Daley Blind – 6/10

Blind played well in the first half tracking Lamela all over the pitch and keeping him silent. But in the second half he was poor, should have done much more for the third goal.

Marcus Rojo -5/10

Was poor going forward and was okay while defending.

Michael Carrick -6/10

Couldn’t get his trademark passes going as the middle of the park was congested and its always difficult against the high energy Spurs’ midfield.

Morgan Schneiderlin -7/10

Excellent in the first half with his pressing but was overwhelmed by the Spurs midfield in the second.

Juan Mata – 5/10

You can’t blame Mata when it is quite clear to everyone that he is not a winger and you can’t play someone like him when Spurs’ main attacks come on the left with Danny Rose making the runs forward.

Jesse Lingard – 5/10

Another player who is not comfortable at all in his position, Lingard was anonymous during the entire match and it was surprise that he was not replaced.

Anthony Martial -6/10

Was wasteful in the first half, made a dazzling run in the second but hit the shot straight at Lloris. Average performance on the whole.

Marcus Rashford – 5/10

You can’t expect Rashford to score every weekend at this level and the decision of replacing him with Ashley Young at halftime was baffling.

Substitutes

Ashley Young -4/10

Not his  fault that on his return from injury he is asked to play as a striker against one of the meanest defences in the league.

Matteo Darmian -0/10

Came on and United immediately conceded three goal in five minutes. All the three goals originated from the left flank and Darmian was directly or indirectly responsible for all of them.

Memphis Depay – Unrated

Did nothing except get into a fight with Walker.

Van Gaal – 2/10

Poor first team selection with weirder substitutions, not sure whether Van Gaal himself knows what he is doing.
