Manchester United star defender Chris Smalling believes that he will be fit for the FA Cup semifinal against Everton at Wembley. Smalling who missed out on the PFA team of the year was seen limping during the final minutes of the game against Crystal Palace. Smalling missing out would have been a huge blow to United’s chances as the Englishman has been the sole constant in an ever changing defence. Smalling has matured this season and has become on of the leading central defender in Europe. Even Roy Hodgson has pinned his hopes on Smalling leading the English defence at the Euros.

When asked about the injury, Smalling said,“Yeah I’ll be fine. It was just a 50/50 and he caught me after, but it’s nothing serious.”

United for all their problems on and off the pitch have a good record defensively this season. David De Gea who was named in the PFA team of the year along with Chris Smalling have been instrumental in United keeping a tight defence. With Rojo struggling to adapt to English football and Phil Jones suffering from eternal injury issues, United need to buy a decent center back to partner Smalling in defence this summer.
