According to the Daily Star, Manchester United have got the permission from Benfica to conduct talks with Renato Sanches after a preliminary bid of 40m was accepted by the Portuguese club. It is reported that Sanches and United also have a verbal agreement in place and only personal terms and medical formalities are yet to be completed. This signing will most likely go through before the Euros take place. Sanches who is represented by the super agent Jorge Mendes is tipped to be the next big star after breaking through this season for Benfica.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and also Arsenal were also in the race to sign this Portuguese wonderkid but with United’s close relations with Jorge Mendes and Mourinho’s impending move to Old Trafford, there was never a doubt that Manchester United will end up signing him. It is interesting to see whether Van Gaal has sanctioned this move or Woodward has gone around his back to  Mourinho for confirmation. Rarely are transfers completed without a manager’s knowledge, but Man United’s managerial situation is not a common one.
