Before the world saw Marcus Rashford scoring those goals against Arsenal and Manchester City, the youngster was plundering goals for Manchester United’s youth teams. In last year’s FA Youth Cup game against Tottenham, Rashford hit a dipping freekick into the goal à la Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo has perfected the technique of hitting dipping freekick which may not look so good to look at but deceives the goalkeeper completely.
Although Rashford was highly rated even before he made his first team debut, without injuries to so many of United’s forwards he would have never got the chance to play first team football. But the way he played first in his club debut and then his Premier League debut against Arsenal forced Van Gaal to continue playing him. A couple of poor performances particularly one against Liverpool were then forgotten with his stunning winner against Manchester City at the Etihad on his Manchester derby debut. Rashford has the skill, pace and most importantly the instinct to be at the right area at the right time to become an Old Trafford legend and enjoy a long and fruitful career at Manchester United.
