A report from The Express says that Jose Mourinho has reached an agreement with Spanish club Valencia to take over as their manager. This report was based on The Sun’s sensational claims that Valencia were in talks with Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes for months. Gary Neville was recently sacked as the Valencia manager but it was understood from a long time that the former Man United right back was not going to remain at the Mestalla next season. Peter Lim, Valencia’s owner reportedly has offered Mourinho a contract worth 15 million Euros a year.
It will be surprising if this report is actually true as Manchester United has always been a dream job for Mourinho and Valencia especially with their current position in the league won’t be an attractive offer compared to the English giants. Stranger things have happened in football and United have to move early to secure Mourinho with reports today in the Guardian suggesting that Mourinho wants to start his new job before May as he want to have the full summer for preparation. As there are no other top jobs vacant,it looks like only United and Valencia are in the running.
