Man United expected starting lineup against Everton in 4-2-3-1 formation

Manchester United face Everton in a must win game if they want to maintain any hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season. The international break has added to the long injury list with Bastian Schweinsteiger out for the season. Daley Blind who was also injured in national duty has recovered well from his knock and even captained his side against England. Another good news for United fans is return of Luke Shaw to training. The England left back has been desperately missed by United as his searing runs on the left flank couldn’t be replaced.

Upfront Marcus Rashford, the hero in the Manchester derby will be expected to continue, supported by Mata, Martial and Lingard. One strange move by Van Gaal recently has been to play Lingard as the number 10 and Mata on the wings. Mata struggles defensively on the wings and Lingard doesn’t get to use his pace and run into space, in the middle of the park. Van Gaal might have his own reasons for the switch but it is hard to see any positives. Carrick and Schneiderlin were excellent against City and they should continue their partnership unless Van Gaal decides to meddle again and bring in Fellaini.
