Arsenal’s superstar midfielder Mesut Ozil has urged Arsene Wenger to spend this summer in order strengthen Arsenal’s squad. This season could have been Arsenal’s easiest chance of winning the Premier League but they are at the moment far behind Leicester and Spurs. Petr Cech was the only player brought in last summer and although he has been key to Arsenal this season, the failure to bring any other star players to the Emirates has backfired as Arsenal are already out of the Champions League and most probably will finish 3rd or 4th in the Premier League.

Ozil told  Welt am Sonntag.

“We know that it will not be easy and that we need reinforcements if we want next season to be on top here again,”
“It is again interesting to see who invests in who and how much the clubs do during the summer break.”

“Great coaches are coming into the league. I am thinking primarily of Pep Guardiola. Wherever he has been, he had success. He is a coach, keen on playing and his teams are feared,”
“I wonder what he will do with Man City. He will be imprinting his football in England and people will be surprised.”

There has been open revolt among the Arsenal fans this season regarding Arsene Wenger, most of the fan groups have turned against the Frenchman and want him gone. Criticism has also been directed at the owners whose main motive is to make Arsenal a profitable business rather than see success on the football pitch. Wenger’s excellent financial record makes him a favorite with the owners but the fans are fed up with business model currently being followed. With the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United competing for the same trophies, Arsenal stand very little chance of winning any major trophies if they continue with their current model. Although big signings have been made with the signing of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, the squad needs a lot more investment if they have to challenge for the major trophies. With City, United and Chelsea all aiming to spend big this summer with new managers, Arsene Wenger will be under tremendous pressure in what maybe the last season for him at Arsenal.
