Manchester United are about to complete their first signing in this transfer window. According to Daily Mail, Italian teenager Luca Ercolani is set to sign from Italian Serie D side Forli, with a compensation figure to be decided by FIFA. Although Manchester United have announced this transfer, the player couldn’t hide his excitement over the news and posted on Instagram.
Luca is not the first Italian, Manchester United have signed although the success rate is not very good for Italians at Manchester United. Federico Macheda and Giuseppe Rossi were two highly promising Italian youngster who came through United’s youth ranks but both failed to make it to the first team due to various reasons. With Van Gaal giving youth a fair chance in his team selection, this is the best situation for young player to get attention.
Manchester United will need more signings to compete for the Premier League title which already looks like is out of United’s hands. Van Gaal has failed to deliver and surely any other big club in Europe would have sacked him by now. The United board and Ed Woodward are continuing to make bad decisions which will cost Manchester United a lot. As Ferguson’s memories become more and more distant, the financial muscle the club has built up also will disappear unless something drastic changes. United were always associated with star managers and star players and you wont find a bigger manager than Jose Mourinho at the moment and United for the second time have chosen to ignore him.
