Manchester United are at one of their lowest points in the post-Sir Alex era with no victory in 6 games. Van Gaal is under immense pressure as he heads into the festive season. Pressure has increased with the availability of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola who will be leaving Bayern Munich this season.

Jose Mourinho

Currently available and would love the chance to manage United. Only issue is whether Sir Alex and Sir Bobby are willing to let him manage. They missed an opportunity when they didn’t appoint him but instead went for David Moyes. Will United make the same mistake again,it remains to be seen.

Pep Guardiola

Biggest problem with Pep is that he won’t be available before the start of the next season and with United in 5th position currently, they need someone to stabilise the ship now. Ryan Giggs can’t be trusted with such a big job at the moment.

Diego Simeone

Has done fantastically well at Atletico much better than some of his more popular contemporaries. He is also someone who embodies Ferguson’s man-management style but the playing style at Atletico remains a little unattractive. Although he may opt for a more expansive style with better attacking riches at his disposal.

Ryan Giggs

United legend, most successful player ever, been a coach,an assistant to Van Gaal and of course knows the club better than anyone else at the moment. But will the United board take a huge risk and appoint him as the manager?
