Jurgen Klopp has been officially confirmed as the next Liverpool manager. Easily the most exciting signing Liverpool have made over the past few years, Klopp exactly fits the requirements for the merseyside club. Liverpool are a club on the downward trajectory but have passionate fans and a great history a combination similar to Dortmund when Klopp took over. Whether the German will be able to work his magic at Liverpool too will be known only after some time has passed. The Premier League is a much more competitive league than Bundesliga and particularly when it comes to transfers, the prices are always inflated. Klopp will need a sizeable budget to invest to buy the type of players he wants rather than work with the existing players. Many expect that there will be a clearance in the summer with Klopp bringing in the players he likes.
Mats Hummels
Liverpool desperately need an experienced leader at the back. Martin Skrtel’s ball playing ability won’t please Klopp who would like his team to spring counterattacks starting from the back. Someone like Hummels will provide the much needed experience and calmness at the back which Liverpool have been missing.
Alexandre Lacazette
The Lyon forward has been coveted by various clubs in Europe this transfer window but ended up staying in Ligue 1. Surely another good season from Lacazette will alert big clubs all over Europe and Liverpool will do well to sign him first. The 24 year old’s relationship with the club president has also deteriorated to such an extent that it is highly likely that these are his last months at Lyon.
Aleksandar Dragovic
As mentioned earlier Liverpool are in a desperate need for a new center back. To play a diamond or a 4-3-3 they need a defence in which the whole team has confidence in. Dinamo Kiev’s Dragovic might be a hit or miss signing, but at the rumoured 11 million pounds he can be bought at, they can afford to take the chance.
Victor Wanyama
The midfielder whose failed move to Tottenham this summer disrupted his form this season is still a very good defensive midfielder according to Premier League standards. A move by Liverpool during the january transfer window will raise a lot of eyebrows but it is a chance worth taking for them.
