Manchester United’s striker Javier Hernandez is set to leave Old Trafford after Manchester United agreed a deal with the German side Bayer Leverkusen . The Mexican striker spent the last year on loan at Real Madrid but failed to break into the first team. At United so far he has been limited to substitute appearances even though Wayne Rooney’s terrible form has continued to blunt United’s attack.

The Mexican star when he first arrived at Old Trafford was a fan favourite as he helped United win the Premier League and reach the Champions League final. He scored crucial goals against Chelsea as United beat them to the title in a closely fought race. Hernandez lost his spot with Van Persie’s arrival and after Ferguson left,he was  not able to recover his form.

Hernandez joins a long list of players who have left Old Trafford from the Fergie era. It speaks volumes of Fergie’s man management skills, that players like Rafael,Evans,Hernandez,Nani all had played much better under him than they did after he left. Now with Rooney as the sole senior striker at the club,United are in deep trouble as they seek to improve upon last year’s fourth place finish.
