Manchester United and Liverpool renew their rivalry this weekend at Old Trafford. Both have endured disappointing starts to their season after summer of spending. Both Rodgers and Van Gaal are under pressure to deliver this season.

With hardly any of the players in good form from either of the two teams it was hard picking the best 11.

De Gea- There is no argument about this one,the Spaniard even with his head not in the right place is miles ahead of Mignolet and his teammate Romero.

Defence- The only hard decision here was choosing Clyne over Darmian. The Italian has started the season well with solid performances so far but Clyne makes the cut because of his threat while going forward.

Daley Blind is left out as he was bad against Ayew and if he starts against Liverpool is expected to struggle against Benteke’s strength.

Midfield- Coutinho,Mata and Schweinsteiger pick themselves. Henderson over Schneiderlin is a tough choice but the Liverpool captain has much more refined passing than the Frenchman. Depay for his ability to score goals from midfield is picked over his Liverpool counterparts.

Striker- The toughest choice to make, both are out of form. Rooney has been struggling after being entrusted with the responsibility of leading United’s line where as Benteke looks like a fish out of water trying to adapt to Liverpool’s style. The England captain is picked for his all round game.
