Argentine star set to sign for Manchester United

Reports from The Metro claim that Manchester United are ready to push through to sign the Valencia star in order to boost their weak defence. The Argentine currently playing for his national team at the Copa America has been one of the star performers for Valencia this season. Reports already had come out in the spanish press that Otamendi had agreed contractual terms with Manchester United but the two clubs hadn’t come to an agreement.

Spanish contracts are very complicated as David Moyes had found out when he tried to sign Ander Herrera for Manchester United. Every player contract is to have a buyout clause, but when the clause is invoked the money is to be paid by the player himself. United have had experience in dealing with this in the past so should not have much problems if they decide to invoke the buyout clause for Otamendi. Otamendi will be a important buy for United as they have already missed out on Mats Hummels whom Van Gaal looked to buy in order to plug his weak defence.

With David De Gea set to leave,United also are in the market for a new goalkeeper. Hugo Lloris and Petr Cech are the contenders although the Chelsea man prefers to move to Arsenal as he doesn’t want to relocate from London.
