Manchester United so far have haven’t impressed this season and an away game against the Hammers isn’t the easiest in the Premier League. With the likes of Tottenham,Arsenal and Liverpool hot on their heels, the race for Champions League spots is heating up and United can’t afford any more lapses. Van Gaal seems to have finally dropped the 3-5-2 formation(You can read here why). Wayne Rooney seems to have been converted fully into a midfielder, but uptil now his performances have been poor and there is no reason why he should start ahead of Herrera. But Van Gaal seems to be adamant in not playing Herrera and only time will tell what is in store for the Basque midfielder.
Manchester United’s defence seems to have settled after a dodgy start but the attack is yet to fire. Van Gaal’s tactics and selection have not been perfect and knowing the Dutch manager he is not someone who take criticism easily and changes. So we can expect to see both Van Persie and Falcao on the pitch, neither of them have been good this season and Rooney should be the one starting as the striker. Di Maria the club’s record signing has also not been special but he has time on his side and he should hit top form once he gets a good run of games but whether he will get them in his favourite position or will he played out of position is a question only Van Gaal can answer.
