Now that it is almost confirmed that Fred will sign for Manchester United, we are going to take a look at where the Brazilian midfielder will fit in at United. Fred is expected to slot in alongside Paul Pogba if Mourinho opts for a 4-3-3 which would see Matic continue as the defensive midfielder. If Mourinho opts to play with a 4-2-3-1 formation, which is unlikely considering Pogba’s problems with the formation, Fred will play as a double pivot alongside Matic.

Fred is an energetic box to box midfielder who can also play on the right wing. Although, Mourinho has been looking to sign a right midfielder, it is unlikely that Fred will be playing on the right. He is almost certain to be partnering Pogba and Matic in midfield. His work rate is top notch and it will certainly help Paul Pogba to play with more freedom and express his talent. For Pogba, it will be his third season and Manchester United will certainly expect him to repay the money they paid for him. The first two seasons have been disappointing,so this might be Pogba’s last chance to make a long career at Old Trafford.
