According to The Sun, Manchester United have identified Monaco’s defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko as the primary target in the January transfer window. United face a lot of competition for his signature with Juventus reportedly in pole position at the moment.

Paul Pogba’s struggle to adapt to the Premier League might be one of the reason that Mourinho is looking to the January transfer window for solutions. Pogba is used to playing in a 4-3-3 with defensive protection behind him but at United he has been part of a midfield two mostly. He has struggled to impose himself and against City was completely off the pace as Pep Guardiola’s side ran through the United midfield. Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Carrick could play as defensive shields behind Pogba but for some reason, Mourinho has not tried it out yet in the Premier League. Although, United managed to win in the Europa League, it was a dire performance bringing back memories of Van Gaal. Mourinho needs to quickly find solutions or United will again find themselves in crisis mode.
