The Guardian has reported that Arsenal have triggered the release clause of Jamie Vardy and although Leicester will be desperate to hold to their star, this might be Vardy’s last chance to play for a big club. Wenger who always buys players with potential has made a complete u-turn regarding the Vardy transfer. Vardy who is 29 and close to becoming 30 will represent a significant investment in a player who probably has one more year at his prime. Especially for player who depends on his pace, Vardy is a risky bargain for Arsenal who have struggled to replace Van Persie ever since he left for Manchester United.
This move also is quite similar Sir Alex Ferguson’s move to buy Van Persie who also was 29 at that time. Van Persie had one good season and United managed to win the title that year and Sir Alex retired after that. Wenger is someone who always looks at the long term but this transfer might be the sign that Wenger is coming to the end of his managerial career at Arsenal and want to go out on a high.
