Manchester United have been in good form of late in the Premier League with their 1-0 wins over Watford, Manchester City and Everton. Although not entirely convincing, United have stopped the opposition from creating many chances and have relied on their youngsters in getting them a goal. This might not last longer with the return of experienced campaigners in Antonio Valencia,Ashley Young, Ander Herrera and Wayne Rooney. Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia played some part in the game against Everton where as the other two are yet play after their injury. Rooney is still doubtful to start although he has started training.

Against Everton, Michael Carrick and Marcus Rojo were replaced after a poor first half and they should remain on the bench for Spurs.

Juan Mata has been underwhelming for United for quite sometime now and against a high energy Spurs side, its better to have someone with pace like Ashley Young who is quite good with his defensive duties too. Upfront is the most difficult decision Van Gaal has to make, with club captain Wayne Rooney returning from injury. Van Gaal has always favoured Rooney even when he was in horrible form and was not helping United in anyway. Marcus Rashford is still raw and will be an useful option from the bench so we expect Van Gaal to give Rooney the nod.
