The Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf which is a respectable source unlike many of its British,French and Spanish counterparts reports that Van Gaal will stay on for his third year at United. Also it reports that the Board has given full backing to the Dutch manager and has given him a budget to spend in the summer. Van Gaal is keen on ensuring that his tenure at United is successful so is desperate to continue for one more year.

This newspaper has been more or less correct with it’s reports on Van Gaal and other United transfer targets over the past two years. So this report will cause dismay among United fans who want to see Mourinho take over the club in the summer. The football played under Van Gaal has been extremely dire and his signings so far have been very poor with a couple of exceptions. If this report is true, then United might be in more trouble at the end of next season with no other world class manager available. This might also be a plan to ensure that Ryan Giggs can take over as the manager without any competition.
