Barcelona striker Neymar’s father has claimed that Manchester United met Neymar’s buyout clause during the summer of 2015. The Brazillian then chose to stay with Barcelona to keep playing alongside Messi and Suarez.

Neymar’s father on Thursday gave an interview to a radio station Esports Cope.

“Man United is the side that offered €190m for Neymar [to] move,” he told Esports Cope.

“He has still two years of contract … you all can be calmed as my son is so happy here.”

€190m will smash the world record fee Real Madrid paid for Gareth Bale by a long margin. Looking at the current state of Manchester United, Neymar and his father will be glad that he opted to stay at Barcelona rather than moving to Old Trafford. Ed Woodward has a long list of players whom he has wished to sign but couldn’t. This list contains the likes of Gareth Bale, Thiago Alcantara, Sergio Ramos and now Neymar.  Although these are some of the finest names in world football, Woodward has only made one superstar singing which was Angel Di Maria and currently the Argentine is setting Ligue 1 on fire playing for PSG.

Glazers need to take a hard look at their appointment as Woodward has failed in many aspects and now Manchester United are in real danger of being left behind. With Manchester City making tremendous progress in youth football and how their club is structured and now with Guardiola coming in,there is no doubt that United are now the second biggest club in Manchester.
