Louis Van Gaal says that he has lot of time and that the Manchester United board are very happy with him. But the recent performances have increasingly been stale and boring and the pressure on the board to replace Van Gaal is only increasing. A defeat to bitter rivals Liverpool who themselves are in poor form might be the tipping point for Van Gaal.

Wayne Rooney luckily for Van Gaal has rediscovered his form in time for the Liverpool fixture. Rooney’s performance against Newcastle hinted that the English captain has finally rediscovered his mojo after a prolonged spell of bad form. United’s midfield will be without both Bastian Schweinsteiger and Michael Carrick and this will be a huge problem for Van Gaal as Fellaini has been quite poor so far in that role.

Defence also is leaky and thanks to De Gea that United still have a respectable defensive record. The early season defensive record was partly due to United refusing to give away the ball and not lose their positions. But like we have seen in recent times, United have an atrocious defensive record while going for a win.
