Manchester United start off the Boxing day fixture with an early kick off away to Stoke. Louis Van Gaal is under enormous pressure to win at the Brittannia. Although his team selection is limited by injuries especially the defence, on paper at least this United team should comfortably beat Stoke.

Captain Rooney is dropped and fan favorite Ander Herrera is starting. This is the first time Van Gaal actually has dropped Wayne Rooney. But United ‘s center midfield combination is a big worry with Fellaini-Carrick double pivot not exactly inspiring confidence.

Also, the way United play will be crucial, another 90 minutes of snooze-fest will only hamper Van Gaals’s chance of seeing out his contract. So this game along with the next game against Chelsea are very crucial for Van Gaal’s future at this club especially with Jose Mourinho available. Pep Guardiola’s availibility at the end of the season adds a new angle to the situation,if United come to an agreement with Pep then perhaps Van Gaal will be given time till the end of the season.
