After a disastrous outing against PSV in the Champions League, Manchester United return to the Premier League where they have a great chance to become the leaders. They travel to the surprising league leaders Leicester City, the very scene of their last season’s humiliation when they lost 5-3.

United’s attack has looked stale and lost all throughout Van Gaal’s tenure except for a period last year when they managed to beat Spurs,Liverpool and Manchester City. Fans were expecting a better quality of football this year at Old Trafford after another summer of exorbitant spending. But United still remain sterile in attack although their defence has tightened up along with the excellence of De Gea. Patience is running thin at Old Trafford and Van Gaal has been surprisingly given more leeway than Moyes was ever given perhaps this is due to United’s lofty position in the league. But the manner of their victories are unconvincing and they are on the verge of getting knocked out from one of the easiest Champions League groups.

Wayne Rooney is expected to make his Premier League return alongside Anthony Martial who easily has been United’s best attacking player this season. Juan Mata dropped for the Champions League match is also expected to return to the first team although the Spaniard seems stifled while playing for United. Ander Herrera one player who has the potential to turn this boring United team to an exciting one is out with injury. But it was highly unlikely that he would have been picked even if he was fit.
