Victor Valdes who has had one of the most horrible spells of his star studded career at Manchester United is set to leave the club this January. The Spaniard who has been training alone for quite sometime now is set to join Espanyol in a move which won’t go down very well with the Barcelona faithful. Victor Valdes reportedly doesn’t even have a locker room at Old Trafford and wasn’t even invited for a team dinner for an Unicef event.

Keeping him at Old Trafford will only hurt United’s reputation as a club which has already taken a beating for the style of football they play. Valdes might want to stay in the Premier League as there is reported interest from Watford and Newcastle.Valdes won La Liga six times and the Champions League thrice while at Barcelona, and was part of the Spain squad which won the World Cup in 2010 and European Championship in 2012.

It will be a surprise if Valdes remains at United even after the January window as Valdes will take note of Casillas’s poor form as a chance for him to go to the Euros. Although the prospect of seeing Valdes playing for Spain is very very minimal, Casillas’s continued poor form might give an opening as De Gea’s backup. But it will certainly be an extraordinary turn of events if Valdes manages to board the flight to the Euros.
