Manchester United have been struggling to score goals this season even after signing Radamel Falcao on a loan from Monaco. The Colombian hitman is struggling to sccore goals and is even more ineffective in contributing to United’s build up play. The biggest problem for United is that with Falcao and Van Persie at the top, there is a lack of movement and pace upfront. Van Persie for all his lack of pace and movement is still a very good finisher and is United’s leading goalscorer this season with 10 goals.

But Falcao as Van Persie’s partner is not working for United at the moment. James Wilson with his pace and intelligent running should start alongside Van Persie. Wilson with his running will provide for lot of passing options for the midfield and more importantly will open up space for Robin Van Persie. Against Preston North End,surprisingly Wilson was not given chance and Falcao and Rooney teamed up as the two strikers. Falcao was ineffective and until he was removed United couldn’t create chances of any sorts.

Van Gaal has always placed his faith in youth and the time has come against for him to do the same at United. Manchester United have to quickly sort out their attacking problems if they have to qualify for the Champions League next season.
