After Roy Keane,Manchester United haven’t had a world class defensive midfielder,except for the 2007-08 season when Owen Hargreaves was fit.Well,one wouldn’t say they have missed him as United in the next three seasons went on to win 2 Premier League titles and played in 2 Champions League Finals.But if you look at both the finals United lost,it was certainly the lack of a defensive enforcer which hurt them the most.Michael Carrick is not a hard-tackling defensive midfielder and he was the main culprit in both the finals allowing Barca’s midfield to overrun United.
